This is considered a national holiday mainly because it is New Year or also known as Shogatsu. This is the 1st day of the New Year so every establishment are closed, though there are some establishments that remain closed until the 3rd of January.
This is also considered as a national holiday. They celebrate this day as the Coming of Age or which is also known as the Seijin No Hi. Men and women who are coming of age of twenty are being celebrated during this day.
Beginning of Spring or also known as Setsubun. This is not considered as a national holiday but this day is being celebrated at temples and shrines in the whole country of Japan.
National Foundation Day or also known as the Kenkoku Kinenbi. They believed that in the year of 660 B.C or before Christ, the first emperor of Japan was crowned. That is why they are celebrating this day up to this moment.
Valentine Day. This is not considered a national holiday. Unlike in any other countries, wherein the men are the ones who give chocolates and flowers to women, in Japan it is the other way around. The women are the ones who give chocolates to men.
